Youth on FIRE
Curriculum
The Youth on FIRE co-op is co-ed, secular, and inclusive. While every class includes components of core skills like language, math, or science, students will focus on their application through hands-on, project-based learning rather than rote memorization.
We divide each semester into 5 week sessions with different themes or focus areas. The parents rotate leading classes based in their own expertise and passions (and we honestly have as much fun learning new things as the kids do!)

spring 2025 Meetings
Throughout the semester, classes will meet weekly every Wednesday beginning February 5th from 10:00am to 1:00pm with the occasional exception for holidays.
Periodically, we will also meet off-site for field trips, special events, or camping trips. These events will be announced as they are planned (by both the students and members like you!) and communicated to the group.
Who can join
The Youth on FIRE co-op is for families with students ages six and up. Classes will be grouped by age:
-
6 to 9 year olds
-
10 to 12 year olds
-
13 to 15 year olds
Families with younger siblings are welcome to join, as long as they are supervised closely throughout the duration of the program and not disruptive to classes.
Family Involvement
As a co-op, we believe that parents sharing their unique experiences, skills, viewpoints and passions is foundational in each child's ability to thrive and learn in our group. Each semester, every family must fulfill at least one volunteer role, whether that is teaching a class, aiding a class, or planning a field trip or activity. If the thought of that excites you, awesome! If it terrifies you, that's okay too-- we promise to be here every step of the way and offer the tools and support you need to find a role that lets your spirit shine.
To ensure adequate supervision, drop off is not permitted and each child must have a parent or supervising adult on site at all times.
Costs
As a non-profit organization, we strive to make our programs as affordable and accessible as possible. In order to cover certain unavoidable costs like insurance, class materials, administrative costs, etc, each family's contribution for the semester is as follows:
Registration Fee
(per family)
$150
Apparel Fee
(per child)
$50
We are actively working to obtain sponsorships and grants to help offset these costs in the future. If registration costs create a financial burden that would be prohibitive to your family's participation this semester, please reach out and we will do our best to help find a solution.
